I feel compelled to share a positive story about a warm welcome from a Hotel on Mull.
My friend and I were cycling through the island last Saturday - probably the wettest day since records began. We had been "dissing" Mull having failed to get breakfast in Tobermory, on a Saturday morning (around 9.00am), during a bank holiday weekend. We had ended up drinking our takeaway coffee in the Calmac shelter. Anyway come lunchtime, we were completely soaked and we pulled into the Glenforsa Hotel at 2:50pm. After about 5 minutes of stripping off our wet outer clothes outside the hotel, we went inside expecting to be told "no you can't get lunch" only to be met by the owner, holding a dry towel for each of us – it was enough to make a grown man weep with gratitude. More extraordinary was the answer to our question about getting some lunch - "no problem, what would you like".
My faith in the human race has been restored.
